Beginners Photography Workshop
The art of photography can be incredibly fulfilling. When you’re able to creatively capture a moment in time and express yourself through an image, there’s nothing like it. Of course, this is something that takes time and practice, particularly when starting out. If you want to learn how to get the most out of your camera and understand the technical as well as the creative side of photography, than this is the workshop for you.
Overview/What to Expect
A small group workshop that is most suited to beginner and intermediate photographers who want to better understand the fundamentals of photography and how to operate a camera manually, without relying on any auto modes.
During this workshop I break down the basic elements that make up photography and manual mode shooting. I explain all the terminology in simple terms, including ISO, aperture and shutter speed and then share my own personal workflow from beginning to end when out in the field.
How to effectively compose a shot, understand light, work with moving water and low light, using a tripod, reading the histogram, long exposure techniques – virtually everything is covered, as well as answering any questions you may have throughout the evening.
The workshop will be held at the iconic Cathedral Rocks in Kiama, a world renown seascape location. We will begin with the theory side of things before applying what we’ve learned to photograph the sunset. This will also be the last chance to join a small workshop in Australia with me, for the foreseeable future as I’m now based in New Zealand.
