Sunset to Stars – Cathedral Rocks and Bombo Quarry
If you’re looking at learning how to get the most out of your camera, learning first hand the technical and creative side of photography out in nature, than this is the workshop for you. Visiting two of the world’s greatest seascape locations, we will catch the sunset at Cathedral Rocks Kiama before heading to Bombo Quarry where we will photograph the night sky.
Overview/What to Expect
Living on the coast my entire life, I’ve always had a love and respect for the ocean. After picking up a camera, it was inevitable that seascapes would be something I developed a passion for and thankfully here on the South Coast we have some of the worlds greatest coastal landscapes. In this workshop I will share my personal techniques used when shooting the ocean, covering my entire workflow.
The initial thought process, selecting strong compositions, working in variable low light situations with moving water, and correctly exposing for a high dynamic range are just some of the things I will touch upon as well as covering off some of the fundamentals.
After sunset at Cathedral Rocks we will shoot the stars over the unique and surreal landscape at Bombo Quarry. Night photography is an experience unlike anything else in photography but can be a little tricky at first. Here I will go over the settings and methods used to capture the night sky, covering light painting techniques as well as working in the ambient low light in order to capture photo’s that look absolutely surreal.
This workshop is best suited for those who have been shooting for at least 6 months and are now looking to take things to the next level. If you’re a complete beginner, I recommend you try a one-on-one workshop first.
