Ok, so technically this wasn’t a weekend but it made for a better title to describe the 2 night/3days I recently spent exploring this vibrant stretch of NSW coastline on a recent shoot for Port Macquarie and Visit NSW.
For those who follow my work, you’ll know that I don’t shoot much for commercial/social these days but how could I say no to rugged coastlines, white sand beaches, balmy winter weather, wildlife, rolling green hills and hosting a bunch of talented Aussie photographers? Port Mac really turned it on for us with some welcomed warm weather and some great light, not to mention the locals who came out to say g’day and of course some great coffee and vegan bites, it’s safe to say that I’ll be back soon.
If you’re visiting the area I definitely recommend a day trip out to Bago Vineyard (especially for that maze) and Comboyne, and a paddle on the sparkling water along the Camden Haven River. If you’re a photographer, the Diamond Head National Park boasts plenty of potential for sunrise, with great sea stack and rock formations all along the Headland walk. For both sunrise and sunset the Tacking Point lighthouse and surrounding coves and beaches offer a variety of different things to point your lens at.
Below is a brief pictorial account of what we experienced during our quick stop over in this highly liveable part of Australia. Locations include Comboyne, Diamond Head National Park, Hastings River and the Tacking Point lighthouse/headland.
