Beginners 1-Day Photography Workshop
Wollongong Australia

Kiama NSW Australia

The art of photography can be incredibly fulfilling. When you’re able to creatively capture a moment in time and express yourself through an image, there’s nothing like it. Of course, this is something that takes time and practice, particularly when starting out. If you want to learn how to get the most out of your camera and understand the technical as well as the creative side of photography, than this is the workshop for you.

Overview/What to Expect

A small group workshop that is most suited to beginner and intermediate photographers who want to better understand the fundamentals of photography and how to operate a camera manually, without relying on any auto modes.

During this workshop I break down the basic elements that make up photography and manual mode shooting. I explain all the terminology in simple terms, including ISO, aperture and shutter speed and then share my own personal workflow from beginning to end when out in the field.

How to effectively compose a shot, understand light, work with moving water and low light, using a tripod, reading the histogram, long exposure techniques – virtually everything is covered, as well as answering any questions you may have throughout the evening.

The workshop will commence in Wollongong where we will utilise a comfortable meeting room and a large screen projector to cover off some of the theory side of things. After this, we will head out to two world-class seascape locations – Cathedral Rocks and Bombo Quarry in Kiama. This is where we will be able to apply hands-on, the things we have learned as we photograph the afternoon light and sunset.
