Cathartic
A scene that is reminiscent of my early photography years in Australia. Here, on an isolated stretch of coastline in New Zealand, these mighty towers pierce the rugged shores for many miles as they endure the relentless elements.

Remnants of a former time, battered and shaped by the relentless elements which scour these distant shores.

Foretold
A shared moment with a stronghold of towers, scattered along a very remote part of the South Island. Remnants of a former time.

Anticrepuscular
A fleeting and rare display of anti-crepuscular rays, at one of Australia’s iconic seascape locations. I was thankful to share this afternoon with my family as we watched the light show unfold.

Elemental
Bombo, on the NSW east coast of Australia. Where I spent much of my early days of photography. We were blessed with a full rainbow right on sunset, as the sky was set ablaze and the nearby ocean surged over the basalt walls. After 15 years of photographing here, this was the finest conditions I’ve witnessed and was fortunate to capture. It was fleeting and incredibly beautiful as long as it all lasted.

Two Towers
A location that I’m quite sentimental about, as this is where I spent much of my early days of photography before moving to New Zealand. I must’ve seen well over 100 sunrises here and taught many, many workshops over the years. Cathedral Rocks, a place that boasts many compositional options and has been a real joy to work with for almost 15 years. After all this time, I was still inspired and excited to photograph here, especially after such a long time between visits. I shared this morning with my daughter and I was a little emotional thinking about my life and all that led me to this particular point. I’m thankful to have this image to help me freeze the moment in time.

Milo
A tribute to my best bud. After 13 years of companionship, we said goodbye to our chocolate lab, Milo. I created this image almost 10 years ago but never processed or published it. Now, it serves as a fond memory of the many sunrises and adventures we shared together. Milo was by my side, every step of the way until the end. Thank you for your love and loyalty.
Single exposure.

Valiant
There’s a very small window of opportunity, when the sun skims across the surface of the sea shortly after rising. Before too late, this sculpture arose into the glorious light. You can see the making of this image over on my youtube channel.

Fragments
An isolated shoreline which runs alongside crumbling cliffs and lush rainforest. These large sea stacks stand like an ancient ruined city, creating a sense of mystery which easily provides inspiration. Although this sunset had some nice colour, I felt the natural contrasts and gradients best suited a monochrome rendering. The South Island is truly a land of contrasts.
