Prehistoric
If there was ever a scene that represented beauty and peace, to me, this would be it. My whole life I’ve been drawn to the greens and fine complexities of rainforests. The gentle cascading of water, delicacy of water droplets hanging on ferns and the fresh smell of rain. As long as I can walk, I’ll explore these places. Very few human feet would have stood and explored this particular river in a far remote wilderness of Fiordland.

Porcelain
It’s a special sight to behold, seeing the lush rainforest and beech trees covered in fresh snow. The leaves of the silver beech aren’t much larger than your fingernail, so only a thin coat of snow can be held by these mossy creatures. The slightest increase in temperatures will soon see the snow disappear, usually before midday. It’s quite common for these old trees to fall down after decent snow fall, due to the shallow root system and frailty of the damp trunks.

Back In Time
Walking through the forest, I’m generally not seeking anything in particular, simply observing and reacting. Following light, shape, texture, darkness. Sometimes an image results, most often not. I liked the symphony here of all that the forest can provide. It’s a complex, yet simple place where time seems to stand still.

Where The Light Leads Us
I could sit and watch this scenery all day. Words cannot express how I feel about such a place. The trees, the light, the mountains and the sea. All here in this moment. This is fraction of the grander scene. I hope you enjoy too.
