At days end
The end of a winters day, making our way back along the lake in my boat. As the mist began to build, this scene emerged for a few brief moments. We were soon inside the hut, fire roaring and warm food in the stomach. The end of another great day.

Soul
This was a spectacular morning we awoke to, with silky calm waters, swirling atmosphere and the soft, warm light of dawn making its way into the fiord.

Valley Of Wonder
Some days you watch the cloud build and know something special is on the way. With just enough time, I made it into the valley to watch this wonderful show unfold. It never gets old.

Far Away Places
Dense, vibrant forest and fresh flowing water in one of the most remote areas of Fiordland.

The Search
A prolonged period of rain caused this portion of the forest to flood and create an unusual combination of beech trees emerging from the waters. After discovering this scene, I returned at sunrise to capture the morning light as it filtered through the trees. It was an enjoyable to challenge which I only got to attempt once, as the waters receded the following day.

Holding On
One of the wettest places in New Zealand and also the world. On the far south west corner, of Dusky Sound. here, the forest is as saturated as it can get, with a myriad of green mosses, lichens and intricate branches hanging on until the end.

Dawn Symphony
After finding this composition one afternoon, I thought it might look nice at dawn, with some colour in the sky. After waiting a couple week for the right conditions, I made the trip out here early one morning and watched this beautiful display unfold. I tend to be more of a spontaneous, reactive photographer but these pre-visualised moments are also very rewarding and fun to do from time to time.

Limbs Of Life
A dusting of gold leaves briefly adorn portions of the silver beech during late autumn, as the air cools and the days are progressively shorter and shorter.

Night Mirror
The aurora was strong enough on this night to extend across to the west, allowing for this rare sight of seeing the lights shine above the Earl mountains.

Elder
One of my favourite sections of forest in Fiordland that is equally beautiful and difficult to capture. After many visits, I finally walked away on this particular afternoon with a couple of frames worth sharing.

Heavenly
Everything is set ablaze in a emblazoned glow, as the high cloud catches the fleeting rays of sunlight.
Mighty
An ancient beech tree, catching the warmth of autumns soft light. It’s a special time of year as the days are shorter and the air crisper.

Sky Lights
I’m very fortunate to have witnessed many displays of the aurora as it dances, flashes and pulses across the sky. Each time is different and varies but all are special, particularly when the lights traverse high across the sky, allowing for images to be made facing various directions.

In The Shadows
I often take my boat out into Fiordland, parking up on shorelines and following creeks and streams, wandering through the dense forest as I search and anticipate discoveries such as this. See the video on my Youtube channel.

The Roman Arch
The ‘Roman Arch’ located in the Fiordland wilderness, overlooking lake Te Anau. This unique landmark was first discovered by early explorer Thomas Mackenzie and has since fallen into obscurity. My friend Dave and I hiked and camped out to capture this unusual monument and were gifted a phenomenal sunset. You can view the whole story and process on my Youtube channel.
