Cascade Bridge
A special place where hidden waters course through the deep depths of the forested mountains. A delicate moss covered arch frames up this spectacular falls. Words or images fail to portray its really beauty. You just need to be there, absorbed in the moment.

Affinity
Since childhood, I’ve had an affinity for waterfalls. I love the anticipation that builds, hearing the trickle and roar of the water long before the fall is visible. This, like many I visit, is tucked away in the shadows of the mountains. Waiting for wanderers to pass by and enjoy a moment in its presence.

Revival
The final family of trees, which stop growing around 1000m elevation. At this height, the elements are relentless, causing the beech trees to become stunted and contorted. One of my favourite times to capture these creatures is when they’re snow covered. This morning was a special one, with fresh snow and gentle light complimenting the scene.

Jurassic Land
One of my favourite areas in the world, tucked faraway in the South West of the South Island. After many visits, this was the one morning I had always envisioned. Fiordland at its absolute finest.

The Light We Seek
On a grey morning I took my boat across the lake and took to the hills, in order to ascend to where the light touched the cloud. After a few kms hiking, I found myself immersed in the beautiful transition where sun pierced the foggy veil.

Mercy
The setting sun filtering through the lush forest canopy. Shortly after I just had to put the camera down and simply sit, look and listen to what I was privileged to witness, on many occasions. I’m truly thankful for this.

Simple Complexities
We often overlook most of the beauty in the world. Photography slows us down, showing us a glimpse of something far greater than us all.

A Quiet Voice
A large portion of my work involves spontaneity. Having no forced ideas or motives, but instead approaching nature with a willingness to pause, look and listen. I much prefer to work this way and I’ve often found myself losing track of time, completely immersed in the environment. It’s a deep connection that is formed and can’t really be replaced by anything else on earth.

Led By Light
One afternoon I found myself wandering amongst this forest, following the gentle light and where it cast its rays. Walking slowly across the soft mosses, it was easy to lose track of time in such a place.

Fantails
Fleeting light in the native forest, as two fantails (Piwakawaka) decided to flit and flutter all around me, eventually making their way into my frame. I was incredibly surprised and elated to experience such a moment and I’m always eager to incorporate wildlife into my landscape scenes when possible. You can see the behind the scenes shoot over on my Youtube.

Light Fade
One of the greatest gifts that photography has provided me, is the abundant unexpected moments of beauty I’ve stumbled across when out in nature. A simple scene just like this, as the soft glow of sunset gently makes its way to the forest floor. A few seconds of simple beauty, in a complex world.
