The Wreck Of Hope
The title of this is inspired by the 19th century painting by Caspar Friedrich. Birds filled the sky and seals darted across the waters as the afternoon light flooded the landscape behind Jokulsarlon in Iceland. An ever changing scene that was soon gone. A glacial tongue can be seen in the distance, in the land of fire and ice.
Jokulsarlon, Iceland
Eye of the past
Finer details that caught my attention on this ancient ice piece that had made it’s final trek from the glacier to the sea, soon to be gone forever.

This is goodbye
The majority of the worlds glaciers are in rapid retreat, something that is clearly evident in Iceland. At this location, ice falls from a glacier and makes its way upon the sea shore at Jokulsarlon. After thousands of years solidified with the earth, these frozen sculptures meet their end as they are slowly consumed once and for all by the great abyss. No two days are the same at this location, making every visit one to remember, as it was on this particular afternoon beside these towering structures.
