Brothers of the earth
The peaks of Aoraki and Tititea (Cook and Aspiring), looking along the spine of the Southern Alps.

Mount Cook centred above the glaciated sea of stone, that is the Southern Alps.

Valor
Whether above the craggy peaks or below in the lush valleys, Fiordland has a way of impacting the soul of all who are exposed to its timeless beauty. Captured at dawn, this is my favourite mountain on earth, Mount Tutoko.
Uniformity
As the rain subsides and makes its way through the valleys and out to sea, the forest is cleansed and the cycle continues.

Valley of the fiord
10,000 ft up, looking across the steep valleys to the high throne of Fiordland with Mount Tutoko and Madeline standing above the sea of petrified stone.

From Everlasting To Everlasting
I’d been thinking about this mountain for 12-months, ever since I failed to do it justice on the first visit. There’s many special parts of the New Zealand back country but this one is up there with my faves. The fog-fall was amazing to witness as the early morning light beamed down the valley and of course the many wild flowers that bloom across these hills.

The Wall
Across the raging waters of the sea, beholding the humbling sight of countless waterfalls plummeting over a thousand feet into the deep waters below.

Kingdom Come
The beautiful warmth of the afternoon summer sun, painting the landscape one calm evening.

Morning meadow
Taking advantage of the short summer bloom of lupin, I found this composition one afternoon in the Fiordland valleys. The location best suited the light of dawn so I managed to return a couple of days later and was fortunate to witness this scene unfold.

Light & Life
Looking west from the Earl mountains, toward the incredibly still and reflective waters of Lake Te Anau.

Piopiotahi (Milford Sound)
The glorious cathedral of shadow and light. the mighty fiord, bathed in the glow of an autumnal dusk. It’s a place that never fails to leave an impression on those that have spent time beneath it’s towering granite walls. For me, this was one such time.

Endurance
Soldiers of trees supporting each other in an underground network of roots, captured here in a combination of snow, wind, rain and glimpses of light.

Dream
I do enjoy the sweet, candy-like smell of a field lupin. I made a couple of morning trips to scout around the valleys over summer. After some river fords, this area was most exceptional for the vibrant flowers that stretched off into the horizon.

Sky Tower
My heart is filled with an overwhelming feeling of reverence, gratitude and awe when I’m in Fiordland. It triggered something inside of me years ago, something that couldn’t be shaken. The slick granite faces that glow in the light after fresh rainfall, looming peaks that stretch overhead, valleys so steep that light is not permitted to enter within. This is my home and one part of the world I’m most familiar with.

Finding Eternity
This particular afternoon was a real humbling and stirring experience. Looking down upon the glacially carved landscape of Fiordland after a clearing storm.

The Forsaken
This family of colossal remains is simply phenomenal, rising tall on an isolated cove in the far reaches of New Zealand. I had the pleasure of exploring these areas with Marc Adamus on some scouting trips, with both of us declaring these coastlines to just about be the very best in the world for seascape photography. No doubt there will be more to come from here.

King Of The Fiords
The middle of winter as sunset ignites the sky and ignites the western face of Fiordlands tallest mountain, Mt Tutoko. The night was spent tucked in my bag on the snow, watching the core of the Milky Way traverse the sky.

Sound Of Silence
I’ve camped on this high vantage point a couple of times and it’s definitely one of my favourites parts of the world. Overlooking Doubtful Sound in the Fiordland National Park, there’s not much noise to be heard here, except the soft roar from the distant falls which would occasionally enter my ears as it travelled with the wind. The foreground plant is young mountain Neinei which adorns various sections of this slope. Technically a ‘fiord’ not a ‘sound’, a glacier would’ve once travelled where the sea water is here. A humbling reminder of how fleeting our time is here. But a mere breathe of wind.
