Cascade Bridge
A special place where hidden waters course through the deep depths of the forested mountains. A delicate moss covered arch frames up this spectacular falls. Words or images fail to portray its really beauty. You just need to be there, absorbed in the moment.

Affinity
Since childhood, I’ve had an affinity for waterfalls. I love the anticipation that builds, hearing the trickle and roar of the water long before the fall is visible. This, like many I visit, is tucked away in the shadows of the mountains. Waiting for wanderers to pass by and enjoy a moment in its presence.

Emerald Fall
This waterfall is unnamed. It’s one of thousands which are hidden from view, tucked away in mountainous valleys, gorges and dense forests. After boating and then hiking into dark confines of Fiordland, I’m confident very few, if any at all have even stood here. This is the most enjoyable part of photography for me, the exploration and surprises that await. It doesn’t always work out but when it does, it’s hard to beat. Green is my favourite colour and the water here had such a beautiful shade to it. Emerald Fall seems like a fitting title.

Sanctification
The sheer volume of water that flows from these mountains is quite staggering, as the granite walls continuously weep in unison with sky.

First Love
When I first started out, one of the first things I wanted to capture with my camera was a waterfall. Here we are, well over a decade later and innumerable waterfalls and I still can’t get enough. I’ve been drawn to waterfalls and green forests since I was a child. Here’s a beautiful one on the West Coast of the South Island.

Fall With Me
A hidden waterfall tucked away beneath the mountains. I’d shared this location with friends when I created this image, as the gorgeous winter light crept into the canyon. Upon returning a month later, I discovered a landslide had caused trees to fall and the whole area is now quite destroyed. Nature gives and takes.

Forest Secrets
The base of a towering waterfall, within the shadowy confines of a small canyon deep in the forest. I shared this particular afternoon with my son, where we enjoyed kayaking across the river and bashing through the scrub to reach this special, hidden place.

Hopeful
Many of the worlds beautiful places have been tainted by the hands of man. There are, however, innumerable areas of remaining wilderness where wondrous scenes like this are hidden and exude beauty without having ever been seen. This is what inspires me, knowing there’s so much of this to explore and experience with fresh eyes. After pushing through the thick scrub, hearing the roar of the water getting louder and louder, there’s nothing that will ever compare to that first glimpse.

Those Who Wander
One of thousands of secret waterfalls which flow in hidden valleys and gorges throughout Fiordland. A fun hike in the wilderness led us to this scene which I discovered on the maps. You can see the making of this image over on my Youtube channel.

Lightfall
Only for a brief time of year, the sunrise light floods into this valley and illuminates this fall. Some recent rainfall the night prior helped bring the waters to life for this memorable moment in time.

Glacial waters swirling through the narrow mountain gorges, lush ferns adorning the dense forest floors and steep walls. Soft bird song is carried on the gentle breeze. Paradise.

I Am Here
Sometimes in life, we seek for something even though the answers are often right in front of us. At a certain point in my life, coming across this scene was the assurance I needed most.

Seeking Eternity
Heavy rains produced this powerful fall that descended from an upper valley in Lofoten. Curiosity got the better of me as I continued climbing up the slopes before getting caught in the downfall.

Into The Night
I don’t really shoot at night often, however I’m always happy to make an exception when it comes to the aurora. There really is nothing quite like it and although I’m fortunate to have seen it on multiple occasions, it certainly doesn’t get old. It’s unpredictability and fast pulsating movement (during a good show) really makes for an exciting and mesmerising shoot. During these times, I can’t help but wish I was sharing it with those I love.
