Ice Towers
A scene of pure beauty in such an inhospitable environment. The contrast of warm sunset light across the surface of the ice was bliss. It’s hard to comprehend, but the foreground ice is the equivalent of large hills.

Here Right Now
Looking down upon a conveyor belt of ice that stretches on for miles. The scale is lost here, but you’d struggle to find a car if it were parked anywhere on the icy surface. As the day came to an end, the colours shifted on the ice into a beautiful array of warm hues. I felt privileged to behold such a sight.

Within The Bubble
What you’re looking at here, is sunlight reflecting across the surface of natural oils that have seeped out across sand. My reflected silhouette is seen inside the small air bubble. Ironically, a few days after capturing this, all of us in New Zealand were locked down due to COVID 19, forced to live within a small ‘bubble’ until the times have passed.

Colour Scroll
Natural oils leaking out, onto a sand bank. At the right angle, under certain lighting conditions, a myriad of colours and patterns were visible to the eye. This image was captured using a telephoto lens, zooming in close on this small scene.

An aerial perspective of the West Coast of New Zealand, looking down upon a light streaked river winding its way from the mountains to the sea.
Mountain Sea
My latest ocean imagery has been inspired by the Russian painter Ivan Aivazovsky who was incredibly skilled at portraying the reflected light and movement of the sea. This photo is more subdued than my others but I liked the layering and textures here which also reminded me of an aerial perspective of the New Zealand landscape.

Divided
Looking down upon an ancient, flowing river of ice. Uplifted and scarred by the ever moving hands of time. For reference, a truck would fit on top of one of the cubed sections.
