Tapestry Of Light
This was a brilliant display of light and colour which I enjoyed on a warm morning in the thick Daintree rainforest, with thousands of fruit bats screeching as they dangled above my head.

Above The Trees
A special mountain view we found after hiking uphill for several hours. Breaking above the treeline, this mighty peak was a welcomed sight and one that I’d wanted to try and capture for some time. You can view this trip and making of this image here, on my Youtube channel.

Tropical Giants
The humidity in these North QLD rainforests was truly an experience. On many occasions, my lens would fog over due to the moisture in the air. It was quite a novelty and contrast for me, coming from the cooler, temperature rainforests of New Zealand.

One of my favourite features of the tropical forests in Australia, is the climbing epiphytes which adorn many of the trees.

Full Bloom
It’s only every few years that the southern beech flowers, so when it does, it is quite spectacular, as the vibrant reds and oranges splash colour across the evergreen forest.

Homeward
Looking southward down Lake Te Anau as the sky was lit ablaze in a spectacular array of crimson and violet. Shortly after we made our way across the old glacial moraine, back to camp after a long, rewarding day of hiking up from the lake below. You can see how this image was made, in this video on my Youtube channel.

Night Chorus
Another memorable night under the aurora, watching it pulse across the dark sky. Something I fondly remember about this moment was the screeching and squawking of the native Kaka, which also seemed to be compelled by the luminous show above.

The Roman Arch
The ‘Roman Arch’ located in the Fiordland wilderness, overlooking lake Te Anau. This unique landmark was first discovered by early explorer Thomas Mackenzie and has since fallen into obscurity. My friend Dave and I hiked and camped out to capture this unusual monument and were gifted a phenomenal sunset. You can view the whole story and process on my Youtube channel.
